GaitAI WalkScan
Turn a walking video into a clinician-ready movement report.
WalkScan converts a short walking video into structured gait and mobility measurements. It is designed to give clinicians and movement professionals a measured layer of evidence alongside visual observation.

Problem
Walking assessments are often based on manual observation and occasional measurements. Subtle changes in cadence, symmetry, stride pattern or posture can be difficult to compare consistently across visits.
What GaitAI does
A guided walking video is processed through pose and movement analysis to extract repeatable gait descriptors and present them in an easy-to-review report.
Who uses it
- Physiotherapists
- Rehabilitation clinics
- Orthopedic teams
- Neurology teams
- Elderly-care services
- Sports and wellness professionals
- Research studies
What they receive
Example report values — illustrative, not measured performance claims.
The report is read as a structured snapshot of how a person walked during the capture — speed, rhythm, symmetry and posture — so the clinician can compare it against earlier sessions and their own observation. Values support assessment; they are not a diagnosis.
Why it matters
Turns ordinary walking footage into structured evidence that can be compared over time — the same walk, measured the same way, at every visit.
Example workflow
- 01Record a 10–20 second walk
- 02Upload the clip
- 03AI processes the gait
- 04Clinician reviews the measurements
- 05Report added to the patient / assessment workflow
Deployment
- Web upload from any smartphone or clinic camera
- No wearables or markers required for a basic assessment
- Reports export as PDF for existing documentation workflows
- Works as a standalone tool or as the capture layer for RehabTrack and FallRisk
Research basis
Published work is the research foundation for the capabilities this product is built on. That record covers the movement-analysis methods themselves — it is not a validation of this product's outputs, and there is no clinical validation study, accuracy benchmark or trial result behind them.

Claim / capability: 5 published records inform shared platform capabilities this module uses (Gait recognition & biometrics). The research does not address this module's application specifically.
Status: Available
Applicability: Shared capabilities such as pose estimation or temporal modelling are used by many modules.
Limitation: A shared-platform relationship is the weakest research link and must not be read as validating this module.

Privacy & responsible use
Designed to support consent-based capture, encrypted transfer, configurable retention and role-based access, with activity logging and skeleton-only processing modes. Deployment requirements depend on the applicable environment, organization and jurisdiction. Privacy-aware architecture does not automatically mean anonymity: pose, gait and trajectories may still carry identifying information. GaitAI outputs are AI-generated movement metrics intended as decision support — they do not diagnose medical conditions and do not replace clinical judgement.
Context & limitations
- Measurements describe the captured walk only — a short clip is a sample, not continuous behaviour
- Camera angle, clothing and lighting affect capture quality; gated captures must be repeated
- Outputs support assessment and are not a medical diagnosis
